ASSIGNMENT 4A & 4B:
AutoCAD
AutoCAD
ASSIGNMENT 4A //
ASSIGNMENT 4B //
Describe some of the struggles with the various software you have engaged at this point.
I struggled with AutoCAD a lot more than I expected to. The software is designed to be easy to understand, but after working in Rhino and SketchUp, I don't find it that easy at all.
Discuss how you might use AutoCAD in your workflow.
At this point I don't think i would jump at the opportunity to use AutoCAD anytime soon. I think it has other capabilities that we didn't use for this project that might be more beneficial. For this project specifically, I could have used illustrator and finished in half the time.
Are you beginning to feel more comfortable with the machines and software? Please elaborate.
My comfort level is definitely improving with every project. I'm beginning to understand what each software is best utilized for and how they can be used to supplement each other. I'm also becoming a lot quicker at doing simple tasks, which makes my workflow better too.
How frequently are you engaging resources outside of those provided and your classmates? Are you sharing these resources?
As I've said before, my classmates are a valuable resource. I had a lot of the same problems that were discussed on Facebook and our GroupMe. Instead of asking redundant questions, I tried to troubleshoot first. I ended up calling Abby for one of my problems because everything I had looked up wasn't working.
You were required to experiment with the software more broadly in this assignment. What tools did you explore beyond what was shown to generate better graphics? Discuss this process.
To be honest, I spend a lot of time trying to actually get my work to plot and show up correctly that I didn't feel very comfortable experimenting with the software all that much. While assignment 4A was supposed to be a "warm-up" for 4B, I think the two parts were quite different.
